Head, Credit Manager at Beacongate Limited

About the Role

We are hiring a highly experienced Head of Credit to lead credit operations, manage risk, and ensure the quality of our loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, deep credit management expertise, and proven leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the organization's credit operations and policies
• Assess and mitigate credit risk while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Monitor and optimize loan portfolio performance
• Develop and implement credit strategies to support business growth
• Lead, mentor, and develop the credit team for operational excellence
• Oversee credit underwriting, evaluation, and approval processes
• Ensure timely review of credit applications and adherence to internal credit guidelines
• Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless credit processes
• Prepare periodic credit reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
• Design and implement credit risk models and scoring systems to improve decision-making
• Review and update credit policies in line with market trends and regulatory requirements
• Manage loan recovery strategies and oversee effective debt collection efforts
• Drive continuous improvement of credit workflow, systems, and internal controls

Requirements

• Minimum of 6–8 years relevant experience in credit management, preferably within the financial services industry
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and leadership skills
• MBA or relevant professional certification (added advantage)
• Microfinance certification or CIBM Certifications (added advantage)
