Role Description
The Consultant Family Physician is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based primary and specialist family medicine care to patients across all age groups. The role ensures comprehensive and continuous healthcare delivery, encompassing preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, health education, and coordination of patient care within the multidisciplinary clinical environment.
The Consultant is expected to support clinical governance, lead quality improvement initiatives, supervise junior medical staff, and contribute to strengthening family medicine practice within the hospital.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBBCh) from a recognized institution
- Postgraduate Fellowship qualification in Family Medicine from:
- National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCP/FMCPH), or
- West African College of Physicians (FWACP), or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years post-graduation experience, with at least 5 years post-fellowship clinical experience
- Full registration and current annual practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)

- Strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills
- Ability to manage a broad range of medical conditions across all age groups
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems
- Commitment to patient-centered care, professionalism, and continuous learning
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working in a private tertiary or multi-specialty hospital
- Training or certification in Basic & Advanced Life Support (BLS, ACLS)
- Demonstrated involvement in clinical governance, research, or teaching
