Energy & Natural Resources Lawyer – Experienced Associate

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced lawyer with a highly specialized and comprehensive skill set across the Oil & Gas, Power, and Mining sectors. This role demands deep regulatory knowledge, transactional expertise, and strategic advisory capabilities.

Job Objective

To offer direction and advice on legal matters in a professional and timely manner, serving as a trusted advisor to clients in the energy and natural resources space.

Essential Duties & Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Provide sound, quality technical legal advice and guidance to clients on Energy and Natural Resources law, policies, and regulations, including asset acquisitions, disposals, strategic alliances, and general corporate and commercial law matters
• Advise, negotiate, and draft major project and commercial agreements in oil and gas, power, mining, corporate finance, and other practice areas as required by management, either independently or as part of a team
• Provide expert advice to clients on the legal and business implications of proposed transactions, anticipating legal and contractual concerns and devising effective resolution strategies
• Assist clients in interfacing with regulators and ensuring full regulatory compliance
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of clients' business operations and conduct and conclude contractual negotiations on their behalf
• Provide timely and professional responses to client matters

Required Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant legal experience with excellent academic credentials
• Strong knowledge of the legal framework for the oil and gas and power sectors with demonstrated experience handling regulatory and legal issues in transactions within these sectors
• General experience and knowledge of project finance transactions in the Energy Sector (advantageous)
• Experience advising on and procuring regulatory approvals, licenses, and permits for energy and finance-related transactions
• Strong professional presence and ability to represent the firm effectively
