Job Purpose
The Electrical Engineer will be involved in the planning, design, and execution of electrical systems in mechanical, piping, and process-driven projects. This includes supervision of site activities, ensuring electrical systems support fabrication, welding, and installation equipment, and ensuring compliance with standards, safety, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering Support
- Develop and interpret electrical designs and layouts for equipment powering pipe fabrication, welding stations, HVAC, lighting, and instrumentation
- Design power distribution systems, grounding, cable routing, and panel schedules
- Ensure integration of electrical systems with mechanical and process units
Site Installation & Supervision
- Supervise installation of electrical systems for welding machines, heavy-duty equipment (grinders, cranes, compressors), lighting and power points, and control panels and junction boxes
- Ensure correct load distribution, safety interlocks, and proper earthing
Project Planning & Execution
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, and shop drawings
- Support procurement team with technical input on electrical materials
- Coordinate with piping, mechanical, and civil teams for sequencing and interfacing
Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance
- Perform loop checks, megger tests, and load trials on connected systems
- Commission control systems for automated welding or fabrication machines
- Maintain backup power systems (generators, UPS, etc.)
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain method statements, risk assessments, and QA/QC documentation
- Ensure adherence to Nigerian Electrical Code, IEE, IEC, and NEC standards
- Liaise with consultants and client inspectors for approvals
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc / B.Eng. or HND in Electrical Engineering
- 7 – 15 years of relevant experience
