Design Assistant at Owens and Xley

About the Role

A dynamic team is expanding and looking for the right talent to join as a Design Assistant.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Designer with fabric selection, pattern development, and sample creation
• Research emerging fashion trends, silhouettes, colors, and materials
• Support sketching of design concepts using hand or digital methods
• Create and organize mood boards, look books, and design inspiration materials
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth sample development
• Attend fittings, take notes, and share corrections with relevant teams
• Maintain the design workspace, archives, fabric library, and sample room
• Prepare design packs, specifications, and documentation for production
• Assist with photoshoot preparation, styling, and creative content when required

Qualifications & Skills

• OND, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or related field
• Strong sketching ability in manual or digital formats (Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Photoshop)
• Good knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, and patternmaking
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Creativity and passion for fashion with willingness to learn
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
