Description du poste

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual for this role. Position Overview:
  • The Concrete Batching Plant Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant machinery used in the production of ready-mix or pre-cast concrete.
  • This includes maintaining mixers (twin-shaft or pan), skip hoists, screw conveyors, and pneumatic systems.
  • The goal is to ensure 100% equipment availability and to prevent mechanical failures that could lead to concrete "setting" within the machinery.
Key Responsibilities: Mixer Maintenance:
  • Inspect and replace wear liners, mixing blades, and arms within the central mixer. Ensure the discharge gate operates smoothly and seals tightly to prevent grout leakage.
Conveyor & Feed Systems:
  • Maintain aggregate belt conveyors, skip hoists, and cement screw conveyors. Monitor belt tension, track alignment, and replace rollers/idlers as needed.
Pneumatic Systems:
  • Troubleshoot and repair air compressors, solenoid valves, and pneumatic cylinders that control the batching gates for aggregates, cement, and water.
Silo Maintenance:
  • Inspect cement silos, including pressure relief valves and "aeration" systems (air pads/vibrators) to ensure consistent material flow.
Welding & Hard-Facing:
  • Perform routine welding repairs and apply "hard-facing" to high-wear components to extend their lifespan against the abrasive nature of sand and gravel.
Emergency Response:
  • Act immediately to resolve mechanical jams or failures during a pour to prevent concrete from hardening inside the mixer or delivery trucks.
Experience:
  • 5 years as a mechanic in a Concrete Batching Plant or a heavy industrial environment (e.g., quarries or cement plants).
Technical Proficiency:
  • Expert knowledge of heavy-duty gearboxes and drive motors.
  • Proficiency in Arc welding and oxy-acetylene cutting.
  • Understanding of pneumatic circuits and air-operated equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow mechanical assembly drawings and lubrication charts.
Tool Usage:
  • Competent with bearing pullers, torque wrenches, and precision measuring tools.
