About the Role
A construction company seeks an experienced Civil Engineer to oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and infrastructural built environment. This role encompasses diverse projects including roads, bridges, canals, dams, structures, buildings, power plants, and water and sewage systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day field supervision at construction sites
- Ensure all construction is performed to quality standards in compliance with design specifications, drawings, budget, and schedule
- Conduct technical and feasibility studies and site investigations to establish effective and efficient project executions
- Identify and resolve project design and development problems
- Recommend measures to enhance improvement and efficiency opportunities
- Coordinate field work, including contract work, to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes
- Identify and implement construction-specific opportunities for improvement
- Test building materials for quality and provide cost estimates and labour requirements for each project
- Assess the environmental impact and risks connected to projects
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal government/agency rules, standards, and procedures
Required Qualifications
- First Degree or Master's degree from a recognized university in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years' post-NYSC experience in construction and project execution
- Ability to work with CAD packages
- Excellent time management skills to handle competing deadlines
- High level of autonomy and self-efficiency
- Ability to work effectively with design engineers, clients, and contractors
Desirable Qualifications
- Membership in the Nigerian Society of Engineers and COREN
- Professional membership with internationally recognized engineering bodies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
