About the Role

Uniterm Nigeria Limited is seeking a Chief Mechanic to ensure all preventative and corrective maintenance is completed within required timescales and in accordance with maintenance management procedures. The Chief Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all mechanical equipment remains functional throughout operations to minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor for day-to-day management and long-range stewardship of the rig
• Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner and correct or notify responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions
• Actively participate in and contribute to pre-shift and Toolbox Talk meetings, observation programs, and special operations safety meetings
• Report any safety concerns or issues appropriately
• Ensure that entries on permits, isolation tags, and logs accurately reflect the current status of equipment
• Communicate clear and comprehensive handovers to relief personnel
• Support, encourage, and mentor subordinates to build job-specific competencies and complete training requirements
• Personally achieve and maintain required standards for own training and competency requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• High School diploma or similar education
• Minimum 8 years of oilfield experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Mechanic onboard an offshore installation
• Demonstrated experience with drilling instrumentation, hydraulic drive systems, and equipment in hazardous areas
• Valid Offshore Survival certification (OPITO BOSIET/FOET)
• Valid Offshore Medical certification (OEUK)
