Camera Operator / Video Editor

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Camera Operator / Video Editor to join News Central TV in Enugu. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for capturing, editing, and delivering high-quality video content for news broadcasts and other programming.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate professional video cameras and equipment to film reports, news segments on location or in the studio, and other content types
• Collaborate with reporters and producers to understand story requirements and determine the best camera angles and lighting setups
• Set up and break down cameras, tripods, lighting, and audio equipment, ensuring excellent audio quality for every production
• Capture B-roll footage and interviews as needed for news packages
• Ensure proper framing, focus, white balance, and exposure in all video shoots
• Edit raw footage into finished reports and programmes, or organize files for transfer to video editors
• Maintain camera and other production equipment in good working condition
• Respond quickly to breaking news situations, often with minimal preparation time
• Travel to various locations, sometimes at short notice and in adverse conditions
• Ensure all visual content complies with journalistic ethics and broadcast standards

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience as a camera operator in a news or broadcast environment, or in content creation
• Proficiency in operating DSLR, ENG, or professional broadcast cameras
• Understanding of lighting, sound, and shot composition
• Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or similar)
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and visual storytelling ability
• Physical stamina to carry heavy equipment and work long hours on location
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of current events, political affairs, and media ethics
• Experience in live broadcasting or multi-camera setups (preferred)
