Role Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development professional to join our Commodity Trading division. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of commodity markets (e.g., energy, metals, agriculture), a proven track record in deal origination, and the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, suppliers, and trading partners globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the commodity trading sector (e.g., crude oil, LNG, metals, agri-products, etc.)
- Develop and execute strategies to expand market presence and trading volumes in target regions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, brokers, shipping partners, and financial institutions
- Negotiate and close commercial deals that align with company profitability and risk parameters
- Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to inform trading strategies
- Work closely with traders, risk managers, logistics, finance, and legal teams to structure and execute transactions
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build market intelligence and relationships
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CFA is a plus)
- 5–10+ years of experience in business development or trading within the commodity markets
- Strong understanding of commodity pricing, market dynamics, risk management, and supply chain logistics
- Proven track record of revenue generation and closing high-value deals
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- International experience and multilingual abilities are advantageous
- Willingness to travel regionally or internationally as needed
