About the Role

We are looking for a talented Baking Assistant to join our dynamic team at Hartleys Supermarket and Stores in Lagos. You will support the creation of handcrafted breads, pastries, and confections, helping to ensure every item is made with care, consistency, and quality. From mixing and shaping doughs to preparing ingredients and assisting in finishing touches, you will be part of a team that transforms simple ingredients into memorable experiences for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, mixing, and shaping doughs and batters according to recipes
• Support the baking and finishing of breads, pastries, and cakes to maintain consistent quality
• Measure and portion ingredients with precision to minimize waste and preserve authenticity
• Help maintain freshness and presentation standards for all bakery products
• Ensure a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment at all times
• Assist with stock management of bakery ingredients and supplies

Requirements

• SSCE, OND, or equivalent qualification (a certificate in catering, pastry, or baking is an advantage)
• 0–2 years of experience in baking, pastry, or culinary arts (passion and willingness to learn are key)
• Genuine interest in artisan baking and a drive to develop professional skills
• Strong attention to detail, creativity, and respect for traditional baking methods
• Ability to follow recipes accurately while also contributing new ideas
• Team player with good communication and time-management skills
