Audit Officer at Synapse Resource Center

About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Audit Officer at Synapse Resource Center in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Review financial statements for compliance with Local Revenue System requirements
• Review branch accounts for Statutory bodies recognition criteria
• Prepare internal audit reports and document audit work in compliance with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
• Assist with value-for-money audits, including monitoring discounts, client questionnaire feedback, and asset maintenance schedules
• Assist with ICT audits, including resolution of ICT issues and safety of company-issued devices
• Review cash books for correctness and trace to backup documents and actual inventory items/assets
• Review billing records and selected payment requests for accuracy
• Review bank account reconciliations and detect inconsistencies with cash book records
• Prepare and submit monthly audit reports to Line Manager
• Accompany purchasers to market and conduct market research for cost assessment
• Conduct monthly inventory counts (store items, food stuff, medication and health products), trace actual quantities to records, and detect irregularities
• Count cash and trace to cash book records
• Carry out spot checks on store items, food stuff, medication and health products
• Review Fixed Assets register for correctness and completeness, and conduct surprise checks
• Test effectiveness of existing internal controls and identify improvement areas based on global best practices
• Provide support for special investigations and ad-hoc assignments

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in Auditing
• B.Sc. in Accounting, Economics, or related field
• Professional Certification in IIA or ICAN (advantageous)
