About the Role

African Pits and Quarries Limited, a leading mining organization, is seeking a highly skilled Internal Audit Manager to lead our audit function and provide independent assurance that our governance, risk management, and internal control processes are operating effectively.

This role has significant influence in shaping internal controls across the full mining lifecycle — from exploration and development to production and site rehabilitation. This position offers a great opportunity for career growth in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual, risk-based internal audit plan aligned with business priorities
• Lead operational, financial, and compliance audits — including site visits to active mines and remote projects
• Evaluate and strengthen internal controls across major mining processes: drilling, blasting, extraction, processing, logistics, and sales
• Conduct audits covering reserve estimation, CapEx tracking, inventory, and product sales
• Oversee audits on ESG compliance, regulatory permits, and royalty obligations
• Present audit results to Executive Management and the Audit Committee with clear recommendations
• Track remediation actions and ensure accountability across the business
• Mentor and guide Internal Audit team members while upholding auditing best practices

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master's is an advantage)
• Minimum 7 years progressive audit experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role
• Direct audit exposure in mining, metals, construction, or heavy industry (mandatory)
• Professional Certification — at least one required: CIA, ACCA, or ACA
• Strong experience conducting audits at remote or industrial work environments
