Addressing Sexual Violence Specialist at ICRC - International Committee of the Red Cross

About the Role

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Protection Coordinator in Maiduguri, you will implement and lead activities related to the prevention and response of sexual violence within conflict and other violent situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and lead field-level activities, including coordinating individual responses to victims and survivors of sexual violence
• Support and coordinate community-level projects addressing sexual violence prevention and response
• Document the humanitarian consequences of conflict and other situations of violence on the civilian population, and allegations of violations of international humanitarian and human rights law
• Collaborate with the Nigerian Red Cross Society on sexual violence initiatives
• Develop and deliver training on sexual violence prevention and response
• Support programmatic analysis and strategic thinking relevant to sexual violence prevention and response, including data compilation and analysis
• Design and implement activities addressing sexual violence
• Participate in and independently hold internal and external meetings with communities, authorities, weapon bearers, and other stakeholders regarding sexual violence work
• Prepare field reports, internal written documents, and periodic evaluations of organizational actions on sexual violence
• Contribute as a team member by undertaking administrative, logistical, and finance-related tasks as needed
• Serve as an interpreter for colleagues when required
• Advise team members on cultural and socio-economic issues relevant to the context

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Law, Human Rights, Gender Studies, or other relevant qualification
• At least 5 years of professional experience
• 3–4 years of experience in protection work, mental health, medical support, or related areas within humanitarian work, with a focus on sexual violence
• Proven experience working directly with persons in vulnerable situations
