Accounts Officer at Caring Habitat

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Officer to manage all patient accounts and financial operations for our healthcare facility. This role encompasses billing management, financial reconciliation, ledger maintenance, and the preparation of comprehensive accounting reports for management review.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all patient billing and ensure timely payment collection and reconciliation
• Process daily billing and account reconciliation using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and appropriate accounting applications
• Prepare detailed bill summaries for patients, relatives, and sponsors with clear explanations of billing rationale
• Present and discuss bills with patients, relatives, and sponsors, addressing any queries
• Follow up with patients and sponsors on timely payment of admission deposits and periodic top-ups to prevent account deficits
• Update and manage bills within the EMR system to ensure all billable services are accurately recorded
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate capture of all billable services and minimize billing errors
• Maintain company ledger with detailed records of all income and expenditure
• Prepare monthly revenue and expenditure summaries and reports by category for management
• Conduct monthly account reconciliations
• Track and document company loans
• Monitor payroll tracking and process payments
• Provide oversight on departmental expenditure vetting for submission to the General Manager
• Complete other assigned accounting-related tasks as needed

Required Qualifications

• BSc or HND in Accounting or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the accounting field
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Strong reporting and analytical skills
• Excellent data management capabilities
• Strong negotiation skills
