## Title: Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our team in Lagos. The accountant plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring high performance and professional development
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual direct and indirect tax returns
  • Prepare tax reports and forecasts for management, including annual and quarterly projections
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns in compliance with local and international regulations
  • Prepare and analyze corporate tax liabilities and ensure proper documentation and reconciliation
  • Maintain and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and notes
  • Identify and escalate critical financial or tax-related issues to the Finance Director
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to address queries and ensure compliance
  • Present financial and tax reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making
  • Support general accounting tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities
  • Communicate effectively across departments and present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Monitor and manage financial risks, ensuring internal controls are in place and effective
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance function

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
