## Title: Accident & Emergency (A&E) Registered Nurse

About the Role

A Registered Accident & Emergency (A&E) Nurse plays a pivotal role in providing immediate and critical care to patients who present with life-threatening injuries, illnesses, or emergencies at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessment and triage of patients as they arrive in the emergency department, prioritizing care based on the severity of their condition using established triage protocols
  • Provide life-saving interventions including CPR, wound management, stabilization of trauma patients, and administration of medications such as pain relief and emergency drugs
  • Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and health status, ensuring immediate interventions for any changes in their condition
  • Provide initial patient care including dressing wounds, controlling bleeding, administering IV fluids, and assisting in procedures such as intubation, catheterization, or fracture stabilization
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, interventions, and patient responses
  • Ensure proper hygiene, sanitation, and infection control practices to prevent cross-contamination in the emergency room environment
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, particularly in traumatic or stressful situations
  • Assist in managing multi-casualty incidents and mass casualty situations

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work alongside doctors, paramedics, lab technicians, and other healthcare professionals to formulate and implement appropriate treatment plans
  • Offer support to patients and families by providing information on diagnosis, treatment options, and post-discharge care instructions
