Key Responsibilities

• Write compelling, informative, and engaging articles, posts, and other web content that aligns with News Central's mission
• Adapt writing style to suit the online platform and target audience, ensuring content is optimised for search engines and social sharing
• Stay abreast of current events, breaking news, and industry trends to provide timely and relevant content for the News Central website
• Conduct research to ensure accuracy, credibility, and depth in news coverage
• Manage and update content on the News Central website, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with editorial guidelines
• Collaborate with the editorial team to curate content that reflects News Central's unique voice and values
• Implement SEO best practices to enhance the visibility and ranking of News Central's content on search engines
• Analyse SEO performance and make data-driven recommendations for content improvement

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
• Proven experience as a web content writer and editor, preferably within a news or digital media environment
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt to different writing styles and tones
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and content management systems (WordPress, etc.)
• A passion for news, storytelling, and the ability to generate fresh perspectives on current events

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with analytics tools and content optimisation strategies
