Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to support the implementation of the WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) component of a project with New Foundation for Displaced Persons (NFDP).
Position Details
- Duration: 5 months
- Location: Dikwa and Mafa, Lagos, Nigeria
Role Purpose
To support implementation of WASH projects, including hygiene promotion, distribution of WASH items, follow-up of community hygiene groups, and collaboration with WASH stakeholders at state and local government authority (LGA) levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular hygiene promotion activities across NFDP WASH projects
- Build the capacity of partners and NFDP staff on hygiene promotion
- Ensure that community mobilisation approaches fully integrate hygiene promotion concepts
- Provide WASH support to other NFDP programmes and initiatives as required
- Ensure WASH integration into trainings carried out on relevant NFDP projects
- Conduct advocacy visits to key stakeholders at state, LGA, and community levels
- Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure hygiene items supplied by vendors meet quality and standard requirements
- Prepare weekly work plans and schedules while ensuring compliance with deadlines and targets
- Support vendors to ensure all materials and equipment are in stock and coordinate necessary orders
- Support assigned tasks across NFDP as needed
- Collaborate with the WASH Officer for timely collection and analysis of monitoring data
Required Qualifications
- Degree or postgraduate certificate in Public Health, Development Economics, Education, Public Policy, Human Rights Law, Development Studies, or a related field
- At least one year of experience in WASH interventions
Required Skills and Experience
- Excellent IT expertise
- Strong understanding of community dynamics, cultural norms, and the role of behaviour change in improving educational outcomes
- Clear communication skills and ability to relate effectively to state and local government authorities
