Technical Consultant at Freeme Digital

Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical Consultant with hands-on experience in speech dataset collection. Ideally, you have contributed to projects such as NaijaVoices, Mozilla Common Voice, or Lanfrica.

You will help us design, audit, and validate a small-scale voice recording pipeline for AI model development.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit studio setup to ensure AI-grade voice recording quality, including microphone placement, acoustic control, and data format
• Develop a concise Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for voice recording and metadata tagging (accent, language, emotion, speaker ID, etc.)
• Train the in-house production and A&R team on data collection discipline and file management

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong background in speech-to-text (ASR) or text-to-speech (TTS) dataset collection
• Prior experience working with African languages, dialects, or accents
• Familiarity or active involvement in communities such as NaijaVoices, Lanfrica, Masakhane, or Common Voice Africa
• Based in Lagos or able to travel for the engagement
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
