About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Slaughter Operations Manager.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage slaughter line processes, carcass loading, and chill operations to achieve required productivity levels
• Work with the maintenance team to ensure uptime and develop plans for production delivery; promote root cause analysis and problem-solving culture
• Report daily, weekly, and monthly on activity, productivity, costs, deviations, initiatives, and actions
• Manage animal welfare from livestock vehicles through lairage to stunning
• Comply with customer and regulatory requirements
• Actively manage slaughter line uptime performance, including delivery of the Preventative Maintenance System
• Ensure efficient utilisation of raw materials
• Liaise with onsite regulatory representatives to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements for animal slaughter are met
• Provide training and development of staff, including SOP management and operator training; maintain and review the Slaughter Training Matrix and plan appropriate training
• Implement cost controls related to labour, including absenteeism and resource levels
• Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met and maintained by all staff; undertake Risk Management Meetings and support accident investigations
• Control operation of the payment data collection system, including SOPs and records from lairage to scales
• Support change management and lean management initiatives
• Ensure the Company Environmental Policy is adhered to
• Identify problems promptly through line management and ensure quick resolution with appropriate communication and escalation
• Manage resourcing plans and employee issues in coordination with HR to ensure staff are motivated, trained, and managed to deliver business results
