Senior Geo-Database & GIS Geologist at African Industries Group (AIG)

Job Summary

We seek a Senior Geo-Database & GIS Geologist to lead the design, implementation and upkeep of our exploration and mineral resource data systems. The role oversees all geo-data generated or acquired across exploration programmes, ensuring data validation, accuracy and availability to end users at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safety practices across all exploration data activities
• Establish a central data management system for GIS, borehole and geochemical datasets using acQuire or similar platforms
• Develop and enforce data management protocols across all exploration projects
• Train users on standards and procedures, then monitor compliance
• Maintain and continuously improve all technical data management systems
• Manage and track technical software licenses
• Support mineral resource estimation and related modelling work
• Promote operational excellence through continuous improvement in mineral resource management

Requirements

• Professional Geologist designation
• BSc (Hons) in Geology (MSc, MEng or equivalent preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of geology or mining experience, including 5 years in geo-database design, implementation and mineral resource estimation
• Experience with commodities such as copper, base metals, gold, silver, platinum, rare earth elements and bulk minerals

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Strong capability in geology and orebody modelling
• High proficiency in geo-data management tools (DAP, Datashed, acQuire)
• Proficiency in GIS platforms such as ArcGIS
• Understanding of ore-forming systems and exploration models
• Experience with mineral resource modelling software such as Datamine Studio RM and Leapfrog
• International or Africa-based experience across diverse geological environments
• Clear communication in technical reporting, presentation and documentation
