## Title: Restaurant Hostess

About the Role

The Restaurant Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests, creating a welcoming and pleasant dining experience from the moment they arrive. The role involves greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, coordinating with serving staff, and maintaining a smooth flow of guests throughout the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests as they arrive and thank them as they leave
  • Manage reservations and seating arrangements to ensure efficient table turnover
  • Maintain an organized waitlist during busy periods and provide accurate wait time estimates
  • Escort guests to their tables, ensuring they are comfortably seated and attended to promptly
  • Communicate guest preferences, special occasions, and seating requests to serving staff
  • Monitor the dining area to ensure cleanliness, order, and guest satisfaction
  • Answer phone calls and assist with inquiries, reservations, and takeout orders
  • Collaborate with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service flow
  • Assist in maintaining menus, promotional materials, and other front-of-house supplies
  • Handle guest complaints or requests with professionalism, escalating issues to management when necessary
  • Follow all restaurant policies, including health, safety, and grooming standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or a restaurant setting is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional appearance and a positive, friendly attitude
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift light items (up to 20 lbs) as needed
