Resident Nurse (Male Hostel) at Dansol Christian Mission

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join Dansol Christian Mission in Lagos, Nigeria as a Resident Nurse for the Male Hostel.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide basic healthcare and first aid to students and staff for injuries or acute illnesses
• Develop and manage individual care plans for students with ongoing or chronic health conditions
• Administer medication according to prescribed protocols
• Detect health problems in early stages through regular screenings and follow-up care
• Update and maintain comprehensive student medical histories
• Ensure proper documentation of all evaluation and screening findings
• Report findings and recommend necessary treatment to the Vice Principal Student Affairs/Mission Nurse
• Ensure the school/hostel environment is clean, safe, and conducive to health, including prevention of communicable diseases
• Ensure compliance with national and local health laws and follow established procedures for medical waste disposal
• Accompany students to the hospital when necessary and ensure they receive proper care and treatment
• Maintain strict confidentiality during all medical and counselling sessions
• Display the highest ethical and professional behaviour and standards when working with all stakeholders (students, parents, school personnel, and external agencies)

Qualifications and Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) certification/license valid in Nigeria
• 20 years of experience in pediatric, community, or school health services (highly advantageous)
• Strong understanding of public health principles and communicable disease prevention
• Excellent clinical assessment, organisational, and documentation skills
• Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergencies
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice and maintaining confidentiality
• Compassionate and caring disposition with the ability to build rapport with students and parents
