## Title: Principal SURF Commissioning Engineer

Job Purpose

The Principal SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers & Flowlines) Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and assurance of all commissioning and start-up activities related to SURF systems in deepwater oil & gas developments.

This includes subsea umbilicals, flexible/rigid risers, production and injection flowlines, jumpers, and subsea distribution hardware. The role ensures all SURF systems are pre-commissioned, tested, and safely handed over for operations in line with Nigerian regulatory requirements and international industry standards.

The Principal SURF Commissioning Engineer serves as a discipline lead, coordinating with project, construction, subsea installation, and operations teams to deliver safe and reliable subsea infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Goal Zero Safety and Quality culture and drive compliance at the worksite
  • Enforce HSE policies and procedures at company worksites
  • Review and provide input to technical specification documents, P&IDs, and other detailed engineering documents for subsea control systems and interfacing systems
  • Respond to SURF-related queries and provide technical clarification to contractors
  • Provide expert support for SURF pre-commissioning and commissioning activities on subsea tieback projects
  • Oversee testing and operations of subsea equipment including Master Control Systems (MCS), Electrical Power Units (EPU), Hydraulic Power Units (HPU), EJB, TUPA, SCMs, hardware-mounted controls, manifolds, subsea distribution units, flowlines, umbilicals, jumpers, tubing hangers, and Christmas trees
  • Ensure all equipment, associated transportation, storage, and installation aids comply with project specifications, procedures, design documentation, and approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)
  • Validate equipment compliance through testing activities
  • Participate in Design Reviews, Technical Workshops, HAZID, and HAZOP sessions
