Preschool Class Aide / Assistant at Birchwood Montessori Academy

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Preschool Class Aide/Assistant to support our lead teacher in creating a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow. You will assist with classroom management and organization while helping implement our curriculum to support each child's development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons aligned with our preschool's curriculum and educational standards
• Help create a safe and engaging classroom environment that supports young children's social and emotional development
• Work with children in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce learning concepts and provide additional support
• Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and developmental milestones
• Supervise children during meals, nap time, and outdoor play
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and colleagues to plan and implement school-wide events and activities
• Attend professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in early childhood education

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Coursework in early childhood education or a related field (preferred)
• Relevant experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool setting
• Strong knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education
• Passion for working with young children and commitment to their holistic development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Physical Demands

The Preschool Class Aide/Assistant will spend most of their workday on their feet while interacting with children and supporting classroom activities. The role may require lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing.
