## Title: Pharmacy Technician
About the Role
Hospital For Trauma and Surgery seeks a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacy operations in Lagos. In this role, you will work alongside pharmacists to ensure accurate medication dispensing, maintain inventory, and provide excellent patient service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Processing Prescriptions
- Receive and review written, electronic, or refill prescription requests
- Enter patient information, prescription details, and insurance data accurately into the pharmacy computer system
- Verify that all required information is present and complete before referring to the pharmacist for final review
Preparing and Dispensing Medication
- Select the correct medication, count tablets, measure liquids, or weigh powders as required by prescriptions
- Package and label medications with the patient's name, drug name, dosage instructions, and cautionary information
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing compounded medications (sterile and non-sterile)
Customer Service and Patient Interaction
- Greet customers in person and answer phone calls
- Answer routine questions and refer clinical, drug-related, or medical inquiries to the pharmacist
- Provide information to patients on medication usage, dosage, and potential side effects (under the pharmacist's direction)
- Handle cash registers, process transactions, and manage patient payments
Inventory and Supply Management
- Monitor and maintain adequate pharmaceutical stock levels
- Place and expedite orders for medications and supplies
- Check for and remove outdated or expired drugs from inventory
- Organize and stock shelves while ensuring proper storage conditions for all medicines
Administrative and Regulatory Compliance
- Process insurance claims, resolve basic claim rejections, and manage billing procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and filing documentation while ensuring patient confidentiality
- Assist in audits and comply with all security measures, quality standards, and pharmacy laws and regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the pharmacy
