Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Technical Advisor

About the Role

We are seeking a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Technical Advisor to ensure the integration of MHPSS activities within medical services provided to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host populations in our clinics and supported Ministry of Health primary health care centers. You will contribute to strategy development, implementation, quality assurance, capacity building, and reporting across the mission.

Program Development and Support

• Lead the design and implementation of MHPSS strategy
• Support Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivor services
• Ensure quality and consistency of all MHPSS activities
• Develop and update MHPSS standards, protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices
• Ensure program alignment with organizational and national strategies
• Monitor data collection and analysis

Strategic Direction and Quality Assurance

• Ensure program components align with population needs and propose necessary adjustments
• Contribute to the strategic direction of mission health programs
• Contribute to proposal development
• Support advocacy strategies in alignment with global positioning and national policies
• Conduct context analysis and provide recommendations for project and strategy adjustments

Human Resources, Capacity Building, and Training

• Supervise Mental Health Program Officers
• Support MH Officers in supervising the mental health team, including case managers and counselors
• Provide technical support to other departments (GBV, medical)
• Participate in briefings, debriefings, and reviews
• Identify training needs and facilitate training for MHPSS staff and partners
• Support GBV program and Officers
• Design training curricula for outreach workers, clinic staff, and partners

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

• Provide consolidated monthly reports on MHPSS and GBV activities
• Participate in proposal writing and donor reporting
• Ensure data analysis and summaries in collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team
• Collaborate with the MHPSS headquarters referent
• Write field visit reports
