Mechanical Technician – Engineering Department at Ascentech Services Limited

About the Role

Ascentech Services Limited is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mechanical Technician in the Engineering Department, based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, conveyors, and HVAC systems
• Assist in equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning in compliance with engineering standards and safety guidelines
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults, replace defective parts, and ensure minimal downtime of production equipment
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, job cards, and service reports for all mechanical activities
• Support production teams during changeovers and ensure optimal machine performance
• Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential mechanical issues and recommend improvements
• Collaborate with electrical and instrumentation teams for coordinated maintenance efforts
• Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), safety, and environmental compliance requirements at all times
• Participate in maintenance planning, spare parts management, and reliability improvement initiatives
• Report promptly to the Maintenance Engineer or Supervisor on any critical issues affecting operations

Required Skills & Attributes

• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills in mechanical systems
• Good understanding of maintenance practices and machine reliability principles
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals
• Team-oriented with a proactive and safety-conscious mindset
• Willingness to work in shifts or extended hours when required
