Mechanical Engineer Maintenance– Workshop at Vagan Oil & Gas Limited

About the Role

We are recruiting a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Maintenance Workshop team. You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of rotating equipment in our workshop and remote locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar gas/diesel engines and generator sets (35-series & C-series)
• Maintain and repair EMSCO and National Oilwell reciprocating pumps
• Maintain and repair centrifugal pumps
• Service and maintain Atlas Copco and Gardener Denver instrument air compressors
• Perform engine overhauls on Perkins and Caterpillar engines
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on all rotating equipment
• Carry out routine First Line Maintenance (FLM) activities
• Review and analyze equipment failure patterns to identify trends and implement permanent solutions
• Repair engine accessories including starter motors, fuel systems, and emergency shutdown switches
• Lead and manage technical crews for field call-outs and intervention activities
• Support other teams with utility power sub-station maintenance activities
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports on maintenance activities and findings

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Caterpillar engines and generator sets
• Proven expertise in using specialist diagnostic tools and equipment (ET, DDT, Fuel Pump Timing, Manometer)
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas engines independently
• Experience working on rotating equipment in remote locations
• Strong technical report writing skills

Required Skills & Competencies

• In-depth expertise in operation and maintenance of rotating equipment
• Ability to work on engines and pumps without supervision
• Proficiency with Caterpillar diagnostic tools (ET, DDT, Fuel Pump Timing, Manometer)
• Ability to identify failure patterns and recommend solutions
• Strong leadership and crew management capabilities
• Excellent technical documentation and report writing abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• HSE Training Certificate
• NSE/COREN Membership
• Additional technical certifications
