Job Summary
The Mathematics Teacher at Discovering Talents Academy (DTA) is responsible for delivering engaging and effective mathematics instruction to primary school pupils. This role involves fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, developing problem-solving skills, and nurturing a positive attitude towards the subject.
The Mathematics Teacher plays a crucial part in upholding DTA's mission to "create an atmosphere of fun where kids can enjoy being kids" and its vision to "discover and bring out the uniqueness in every child," by ensuring individualized teaching and promoting academic excellence within the SHRID niche.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery & Curriculum Implementation
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging mathematics lessons in accordance with DTA's blended British-Nigerian curriculum and academic standards
- Implement DTA's SHRID niche, particularly focusing on Skill Acquisition in numeracy, Individualized Teaching to cater to diverse learning styles, and promoting clear Diction in mathematical communication
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technology to make mathematics accessible and enjoyable for all pupils
- Set clear learning objectives and provide constructive feedback to students to support their progress
- Prepare pupils for internal and external examinations, including entrance examinations
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and administer fair, valid, and reliable assessments (tests, quizzes, continuous assessments) to evaluate student understanding and progress in mathematics
- Analyze assessment data to identify learning gaps, inform instructional adjustments, and provide targeted support to students
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, performance, and grades
- Prepare comprehensive progress reports for parents, highlighting academic achievements and areas for improvement
