Job description

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates. Role Summary: - The Legal Officer / Contracts & Corporate Affairs Officer provides legal support across contract management, regulatory compliance, litigation, and corporate governance. Drafts and reviews agreements, ensures statutory filings, advises departments on legal risks, supports board processes, and maintains ISO and NDPR standards. Key Responsibilities: - Draft, review, and interpret commercial contracts, NDAs, vendor agreements, MOUs, joint venture agreements, subcontracting agreements, and service-level agreements.  - Prepare, review, and file documents with regulatory bodies such as CAC, NSITF, ITF, PENCOM, NIPEX, DPR/NUPRC and local authorities.  - Provide legal opinions to departments (Procurement, HR, Finance, Operations) to ensure compliance with Nigerian laws and company policies. - Track contract lifecycle (approval, execution, renewals, termination notice), using contract register or ERP systems. - Conduct legal research on laws, regulations, precedents, and provide briefs to Senior Legal Officers / Head of Department. - Support litigation processes; preparing court documents, liaising with external counsel, and tracking court schedules. - Ensure proper file management: contracts, legal correspondences, litigation files, company secretarial documents. - Assist in board/management meetings; prepare minutes, resolutions, board packs, maintain statutory registers. - Ensure compliance with company ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001), NDPR (data privacy), and anti-bribery policy. -  Liaise with government agencies, clients, vendors, communities, and external solicitors on legal and contractual matters Qualifications & Experience: - LL.B. (Law) and B.L (Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria). - 3-6 years post-call to bar, experience in corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, or litigation. - Proficient in legal drafting, negotiation, and documentation with strong knowledge of Contract Law, Company Law, and Labour Law. - Membership or certification with professional bodies such as ICSAN (Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators), CIArb (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators), and relevant compliance certifications is an advantage but not a requirement. - Working knowledge of legal management tools, EFCC SCUML, and CAC filing platforms.
