Overall Purpose of the Position
To support the audit function in Geneva and globally, we are seeking an Internal Audit Officer. This position supports the Director of Finance and the Internal Audit Function through internal audits, evaluating internal controls and risks, and coordinating external audits including project, donor, and HD-mandated audits.
The Internal Audit Officer may travel to conduct field audit missions as needed.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate audits preparation with HD offices (approximately 50% of role)
- Plan and conduct process and transactional testing
- Plan and conduct field missions upon request by the head of Internal Audit
- Plan and conduct compliance missions as requested by the Director of Finance or finance function
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits
- File and archive all required audit documentation, reporting, and administrative documents
- Ensure quality and completeness of supporting documents submitted to auditors
- Consolidate audit recommendations and monitor the status of their implementation
- Focus on continuous improvements of processes and internal controls
Required Qualifications
- Audit or Accounting Degree (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) or currently working towards a certification
- Minimum 2–3 years of audit experience, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Advanced knowledge of Excel; experience with Jet Reports and Business Central is an asset
- Industry experience in not-for-profit, project-based, donor-funded, and grant-based organizations preferred
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English; Arabic and French are valuable additions
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
Working Arrangements
Working under the supervision of the Finance Director, the Internal Audit Officer will work in close collaboration with the Accounting, Finance, and HR teams in Geneva and globally.
