## Title: IMPACT Study Physician

About the Position

The Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria is seeking a dedicated Physician to join our dynamic team in Lagos. This role focuses on cancer prevention, patient care, and clinical research within the IMPACT Study framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete cancer prevention training and maintain certification throughout the position
  • Communicate sensitively with vulnerable patients regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) pathogenesis, anal cancer risk, and prevention and treatment options
  • Conduct anal cancer assessments including anal swabbing, digital anal rectal examination, and high-resolution anoscopy (HRA)-directed biopsy sampling for histological diagnosis
  • Document all cases in REDCap logbook with detailed procedure notes and clinical impressions
  • Collaborate with pathology teams to review histological findings and communicate high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) diagnoses and treatment plans to patients
  • Treat high-grade precancerous lesions (HSIL) using hyfrecation/electrocautery ablation and prescribe medications as appropriate
  • Monitor treatment progress, assess patient health and well-being, and document findings
  • Refer patients for advanced care when dysplasia cannot be managed at clinic level or cancer is suspected
  • Encourage participants to attend annual anal cancer screening appointments
  • Collaborate with study and implementation science teams to enhance program development
  • Participate in weekly and biweekly IMPACT Local and International meetings

Educational Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Current registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
  • Valid medical practicing license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification or Master's level training in Public Health or Epidemiology
  • Fellowship in Surgery or Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Previous experience in HIV-related research, implementation science, or cancer research
