HVAC Design Engineer I at Fort Knox Group

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HVAC Design Engineer (Level 1) to support the design and execution of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

The ideal candidate will assist senior design engineers in preparing load calculations, layout drawings, and technical documentation to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant HVAC system designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing HVAC load calculations, duct layouts, and equipment schedules
• Draft and modify design drawings using AutoCAD or similar software
• Support the preparation of technical submittals and material specifications
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to coordinate system layouts
• Conduct site inspections and provide design support during installation
• Maintain documentation and assist in preparing as-built drawings
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior HVAC engineers or project managers

Health, Safety & Environmental (OHSE) Responsibilities

• Follow all health and safety procedures and wear required PPE on site
• Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately
• Promote environmental awareness and energy efficiency in all project designs

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 0–2 years of experience in HVAC design or mechanical drafting
• Exposure to construction projects or design offices is an advantage

• Ability to interpret and prepare mechanical/HVAC drawings
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn advanced design concepts

Knowledge & Technical Requirements

• Basic knowledge of HVAC design principles and psychrometrics
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and HVAC design tools
