## Title: HSE Officer

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join HRLeverage Africa as an HSE Officer in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
  • Monitor use of PPE and ensure availability and compliance
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, and response activities

Environmental Management

  • Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, effluent discharge, emissions, and noise control
  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, and company standards
  • Promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within operations
  • Report environmental incidents and coordinate corrective measures

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct HSE inductions for new employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Organize regular safety trainings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns
  • Promote a strong safety culture among employees and contractors

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with statutory HSE regulations and company policies
  • Maintain HSE records, reports, inspections, and audit documentation
  • Support internal and external HSE audits and regulatory inspections
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies when required

Key Performance Indicators

  • Reduction in accidents and incidents
  • Compliance with HSE standards and regulations
  • Timely closure of corrective actions
  • Effectiveness of safety trainings and awareness programs

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of OND / HND / BSc in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Professional HSE certification (added advantage)
  • 2–5 years HSE experience in manufacturing, industrial, or agro-based industries
