## Title: HSE Officer
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to join HRLeverage Africa as an HSE Officer in Lagos, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
- Monitor use of PPE and ensure availability and compliance
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, and response activities
Environmental Management
- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, effluent discharge, emissions, and noise control
- Ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, and company standards
- Promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within operations
- Report environmental incidents and coordinate corrective measures
Training & Awareness
- Conduct HSE inductions for new employees, contractors, and visitors
- Organize regular safety trainings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns
- Promote a strong safety culture among employees and contractors
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with statutory HSE regulations and company policies
- Maintain HSE records, reports, inspections, and audit documentation
- Support internal and external HSE audits and regulatory inspections
- Liaise with regulatory bodies when required
Key Performance Indicators
- Reduction in accidents and incidents
- Compliance with HSE standards and regulations
- Timely closure of corrective actions
- Effectiveness of safety trainings and awareness programs
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of OND / HND / BSc in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or related field
- Professional HSE certification (added advantage)
- 2–5 years HSE experience in manufacturing, industrial, or agro-based industries
