Housekeeper (Cleaner) at Eye Foundation Hospital

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Hospital Housekeeper to join our dynamic team at Eye Foundation Hospital. In this essential role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic healthcare environment that supports optimal patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to cleaning emergencies within the hospital environment
• Clean and maintain floors, windows, and other surfaces to hospital standards
• Dispose of general waste and maintain cleanliness of wastebaskets throughout the facility
• Appropriately dispose of medical waste products including syringes, gloves, face masks, and medication sachets according to protocol
• Dust furniture and equipment regularly
• Collect and arrange dirty linens for appropriate washing
• Iron and distribute clean linens to patients
• Promptly clean and disinfect areas contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids
• Operate various cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners and washing machines
• Document all hospital waste disposal procedures and ensure compliance with hospital standards and best practices

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certificate
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent hygienic practices and commitment to infection control
• Mathematical skills to accurately mix cleaning agents according to manufacturer specifications
• Knowledge of equipment sterilization processes
• Proficiency in English language (written and verbal)
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently
• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving abilities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times
• Physical ability to work in environments with exposure to dust and cleaning agents
• Willingness to learn new skills and safety procedures, particularly regarding chemical handling and basic safety protocols
