Position Summary

A Kitchen Assistant supports the chefs and cooks in the smooth running of the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, assisting in food preparation, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation

• Wash, peel, chop, and cut ingredients
• Assist in preparing basic dishes under supervision
• Ensure ingredients are properly stored and labeled

Cleaning & Hygiene

• Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
• Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas
• Dispose of waste and maintain proper sanitation

Stock & Supplies

• Unpack and store deliveries in the correct areas
• Check stock levels and report shortages
• Rotate food items to ensure freshness using FIFO (First In, First Out) method

Support to Chefs/Cooks

• Assist in plating and garnishing dishes
• Deliver food items and utensils as needed
• Follow instructions to ensure smooth kitchen operations

Health & Safety Compliance

• Follow food hygiene and safety regulations
• Use cleaning chemicals safely and correctly
• Report maintenance or equipment issues promptly

Requirements

• Relevant qualifications
• Minimum 4 years of work experience

Compensation

Monthly salary: ₦50,000
