## Title: Hotel Accountant
About This Role
This position offers a great opportunity for career growth within a dynamic hotel environment. As Hotel Accountant at Garden Top Hotel in Lagos, you will be responsible for managing all financial operations and ensuring the hotel's financial integrity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Control
- Handle petty cash and retire it properly
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records
- Generate monthly financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, etc.)
- Implement control procedures to safeguard financial integrity
Daily Transactions Management
- Process invoices, track payments, and manage daily financial transactions from the front office, F&B, and laundry departments
- Monitor hotel revenue and expenses
- Ensure accurate calculations and compliance with tax regulations
- Handle employee benefits and deductions
Budgeting and Cost Control
- Collaborate with department heads to create and monitor budgets
- Implement cost-saving measures and track spending
Internal Audits and Compliance
- Conduct internal audits across all departments (Store, Kitchen, Restaurant, Bar, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance) to identify discrepancies
- Ensure adherence to financial policies
- Address any issues promptly
External Audits
- Coordinate with external auditors during audit processes
- Provide necessary financial records and explanations
Inventory Oversight
- Monitor inventory levels across all departments (Store, Kitchen, Restaurant, Bar, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance)
- Review procurement practices
- Minimize waste and optimize inventory management
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and filing procedures
- Proficiency in accounting tools (Excel, QuickBooks, Sage, Busy, Ezee, Opera PMS, Hotelman)
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACA, ACCA, etc.) is a plus
