Sector: Tier 1 Microfinance Bank
Our client, a Tier 1 Microfinance Bank, is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Risk Management to lead its enterprise-wide risk function and support sustainable growth in a highly regulated environment.
This role is ideal for a seasoned banking professional with strong regulatory insight, leadership maturity, and deep expertise in credit, liquidity, and enterprise risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and sustain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework
- Define and operationalize the Board-approved Risk Appetite Statement
- Oversee credit policy, underwriting standards, and portfolio concentration limits
- Monitor credit exposures, delinquency trends, and portfolio performance
- Support ALCO through liquidity risk management, stress testing, and scenario analysis
- Serve as primary liaison for CBN risk examinations and regulatory compliance
- Advise Executive Management and the Board on risk implications of strategic decisions
- Drive a strong risk-aware culture through training and continuous engagement
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Master’s degree / MBA is an added advantage
- Professional certifications (CRMA, FRM, PRM, ERM, ICAN, ACCA, CIBN) are highly desirable
- 8–10 years’ banking experience, with at least 5 years in a senior risk leadership role
- Strong knowledge of CBN regulations, IFRS 9, Basel II/III, and AML/CFT frameworks
- Proven ability to manage multi-dimensional risk portfolios and lead cross-functional teams
Success Will Be Measured By
- NPL ratio maintained within regulatory limits (≤5%)
- Strong Capital Adequacy and regulatory compliance
- Timely submission of all risk and regulatory returns
- Positive audit and regulatory ratings with no major risk findings
