Head of Legal Compliance

Position Overview

Wells Carlton Hotel & Apartments is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Legal Compliance to lead and oversee the organization's legal and compliance framework. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while proactively identifying and mitigating legal and regulatory risks. This role serves as a key advisor to senior management and supports the organization's governance, ethics, and risk management objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's legal compliance strategy and framework
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Advise senior management and the Board on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization
• Oversee internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls
• Lead internal investigations, audits, and regulatory inspections where required
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across the organization
• Provide training and guidance on legal and compliance obligations to employees
• Prepare compliance reports, risk assessments, and management updates

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB or equivalent); admission to the Bar is required
• Proven experience in a senior legal or compliance leadership role
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory compliance, and risk management
• Demonstrated experience advising executive leadership and boards
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Qualifications

• Master's degree in Law or Compliance
