## Title: Financial Accountant
About the Role
An established company is recruiting for a Financial Accountant position based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Oversee general ledger entries and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and other balance sheet items
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory reporting requirements (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.)
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Liaise with auditors and support the audit process with required documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for reporting and auditing purposes
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures
- Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process
- Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Secure financial information by completing database backups

- Bachelor's degree (Bac)
