## Title: Finance Officer

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated finance professional to join Terra Aqua Environmental Consultancy Limited in Lagos, Nigeria. As Finance Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Bank Reconciliations

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of all company bank accounts
  • Investigate and resolve all reconciling items, including outstanding deposits, unposted items, bank errors, and other discrepancies
  • Prepare and maintain detailed bank reconciliation reports

General Ledger Reconciliations

  • Perform regular reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany accounts, and suspense accounts
  • Identify and investigate any variances between the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
  • Prepare and post necessary journal entries to correct discrepancies and ensure accuracy
  • Maintain supporting documentation for all reconciliations and journal entries

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close

  • Assist with the monthly and annual financial close processes
  • Contribute to the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by the financial controller

Process Improvement and Controls

  • Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and enhance internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems or software as needed

Statutory and Taxation

  • Prepare and file monthly Value Added Tax (VAT) and Withholding Tax (WHT) returns
  • Compute and remit monthly Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) deductions to the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service for all employees
  • Prepare and remit other statutory levies and contributions, such as Pension (PENCOM)
  • Monitor and ensure that all tax and statutory deadlines are met to avoid penalties and interest charges

Qualifications and Skills

  • HND or BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • ACA certification (preferred)
