Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join our power generation facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems and components in a GENCO (power generation company) environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in power systems, hands-on experience in generation plant operations, and proficiency in CAD tools for electrical design and schematics. This role requires a COREN-certified professional with demonstrated leadership and analytical skills to ensure optimal plant performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and oversee the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and components within the power generation plant
- Perform detailed electrical load calculations, system studies, and protection coordination
- Conduct root-cause analysis of electrical faults and recommend effective corrective measures
- Supervise and support electrical technicians and contractors in daily operations and maintenance activities
- Prepare and review technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD or other CAD software
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and quality standards (e.g., NERC, NEMSA, COREN)
- Participate in equipment inspection, testing, and commissioning of power systems and control panels
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Provide technical support for plant upgrades, retrofitting, and modernization projects
- Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems and updates to as-built drawings
- Support project management efforts including cost estimation, procurement support, and contractor evaluation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, civil, and control engineers for integrated plant operations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- COREN certification as a professional engineer
- Hands-on experience in power generation plant operations
- Strong technical expertise in power systems
- Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD or equivalent)
- Demonstrated leadership and analytical skills
- Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards (NERC, NEMSA, COREN)
