EHS & Risk Manager at Alfred & Victoria Associates

Job Summary & Purpose

We are seeking a qualified EHS & Risk Manager to join Alfred & Victoria Associates in Lagos. You will be responsible for controlling operational losses, environmental concerns, occupational health issues, and work-related injuries and accidents. In this role, you will help plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative safety measures while ensuring compliance with all company safety and environmental policies, as well as Nigerian safety and environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety guidelines for all staff, visitors, contractors, and suppliers
• Develop and execute programs to achieve EMS & OHS objectives and provide advice on trends and indicators
• Liaise with regulatory authorities to stay informed of regulatory updates and industry best practices
• Conduct routine drills to test emergency preparedness for all likely emergency scenarios
• Monitor and inspect fire facilities to ensure reliability in the event of a fire emergency
• Facilitate internal audits of the environment and safety management systems
• Ensure first aid kits are up to date, available, and accessible
• Provide and maintain walkways, ensuring vehicle and pedestrian pathways are not obstructed
• Provide timely logging of incidents and ensure closure in the accident data database
• Conduct environment and safety inspections of material handling equipment
• Ensure safe warehouse stacking of materials and finished products
• Inspect all modifications and installed plant and equipment before commissioning
• Ensure waste is recycled, segregated, sorted, and disposed of in compliance with relevant environmental legislation
• Develop, implement, and maintain an Environment & Safety Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
• Prioritize and provide timely advice on EMS & OHSMS 45001 implementation
• Develop and facilitate the plant's Health and Safety program in line with SHE protocols
• Monitor pest control and fumigation activities
