## Title: Director of Works and Maintenance Services
Position Overview
The Director of Works and Maintenance Services is a critical management position responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day operation of the Directorate. This role encompasses physical and infrastructural facilities management and maintenance across the University. The Director may also be assigned additional responsibilities as determined by the Vice-Chancellor.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee renovation and maintenance of all University buildings and infrastructure
- Manage the Works and Maintenance Services Department, including technical staff and budgets
- Supervise maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other engineering installations
- Manage the University's fleet of vehicles and related transportation infrastructure
- Advise University Management on all matters relating to works and maintenance
- Ensure sustainable and efficient management of utilities, including power supply
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A good Honours Degree (not below second class lower division) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or Building Technology from a recognized institution. A higher degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
- Registration as a member of a relevant professional body with current practicing license (e.g., COREN, NIA, NIQS, NSE)
- A minimum of 15 years of post-qualification cognate experience, with at least 10 years in a senior management role in works and maintenance, preferably in a Federal University
- Prior service at the level of Deputy Director of Works, preferably in a Federal University, for a minimum of 5 years
- Not more than 60 years of age upon appointment
