About the Role

The Chief Economist will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership, providing critical economic intelligence that informs strategy, funding decisions, and policy engagement.

You'll lead research on macroeconomic trends, agricultural finance, and financial inclusion — ensuring that the institution remains economically resilient and strategically positioned to drive inclusive growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead economic research and analysis on macroeconomic trends, agricultural finance, and financial inclusion
• Provide strategic economic intelligence to inform institutional strategy and funding decisions
• Guide policy formulation and provide strategic direction aligned with national development goals
• Advise CEO and executive leadership on economic matters affecting institutional impact
• Engage with external partners, including government agencies and international financial institutions

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field (PhD is an advantage)
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in economic research, policy analysis, or consulting — ideally in the agricultural finance or development sectors
• Strong background in macroeconomics, econometrics, and policy formulation
• Demonstrated ability to provide actionable insights that drive institutional or national economic strategy

Key Skills & Competencies

• Advanced econometric and financial modeling skills (Excel proficiency required)
• Expertise in agricultural economics, development finance, and financial inclusion policies
• Strong communication and presentation abilities — especially with policy and regulatory audiences
• Analytical mindset with high integrity, strategic thinking, and discretion
• Proven ability to engage effectively with external partners and stakeholders
