About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Chef to join our team. This is a leadership position responsible for kitchen operations, meal preparation, staff management, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications, dietary requirements, and presentation standards
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of meals during service hours
- Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dishes
- Supervise kitchen assistants and cooks to ensure smooth workflow and coordination
- Assist in designing seasonal and special menus that reflect customer preferences and cost efficiency
- Introduce creative recipes and meal variations to enhance the dining experience
- Monitor portion control, food cost, and waste management to achieve profitability targets
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP standards or equivalent)
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils
- Enforce proper food storage and labeling to prevent contamination and spoilage
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, supplies, and equipment
- Prepare requisitions for kitchen materials and liaise with the procurement or store department
- Track usage and prevent waste through accurate portioning and storage
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high performance and discipline
- Train team members on cooking techniques, hygiene standards, and safety procedures
- Promote teamwork and a positive working atmosphere in the kitchen
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Preparation, or related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years' professional cooking experience (preferably in hotels, restaurants, or catering)
- Knowledge of various cuisines (continental, African, or specialized depending on setting)
- Familiarity with modern kitchen equipment and techniques
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
