Job description
## Title: Bursar – Chrisland University, Owode
Position Overview
The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration, coordination, and control of the financial affairs of the University.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate impeccable integrity, transparency, accountability, and sound financial leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial management operations of the University
- Coordinate budgeting, financial planning, accounting, treasury functions, and reporting
- Ensure efficient management of revenue, investments, grants, and expenditure control
- Maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, funds, and financial transactions
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements
- Provide periodic financial reports and expert financial advice to the Vice-Chancellor and Governing Council
- Supervise and develop staff in the Bursary Department
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned under the University Law
Qualifications and Experience
- A good first degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized university
- Full membership of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAN, ANAN, or an equivalent
- A minimum of 15 years of cognate post-qualification experience in a senior financial role, preferably as Deputy Bursar or higher in a university or similar tertiary institution
- Demonstrable capacity for strategic financial leadership
- Proven integrity, excellent character, and sound judgment
- Strong ICT competence and familiarity with modern financial management systems
- In good health and not older than 60 years at the time of assumption of duty
Tenure
The successful candidate shall hold office as Bursar for an initial term of five (5) years with the possibility of extension.
