## Title: Biomedical Engineer
About the Role
St. Ives Specialist Hospital is expanding its dynamic team and seeking a talented Biomedical Engineer to join us in Lagos, Nigeria. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on patient care through expert management and maintenance of medical equipment across all hospital branches.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs
- Conduct regular servicing and preventive maintenance for all medical equipment to meet or exceed a 95% compliance rate, verified by service logs and trackers
- Respond to maintenance requests across all branches, completing minor repairs and troubleshooting within 48 hours of notice or escalation
- Ensure all equipment is serviced according to regulatory and safety standards, performing necessary safety tests and conducting end-user training
Service Level Agreement (SLA) Compliance
- Monitor, manage, and execute all SLAs for medical equipment to uphold high standards for service and functionality in alignment with vendor agreements and hospital standards
Patient Safety and Quality Initiatives
- Lead at least three quality or service improvement initiatives bi-annually to enhance the performance, safety, and longevity of medical devices, directly supporting improved patient care outcomes
- Achieve 100% patient safety by proactively ensuring equipment is maintained and serviced to avoid operational disruptions
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to local and international regulatory requirements in all equipment servicing and maintenance
- Document all servicing, maintenance, and repair activities, and promptly address any compliance issues to align with regulatory standards
Performance Tracking and Reporting
- Track equipment performance benchmarks and generate regular reports on compliance, uptime, and safety measures to identify areas for improvement and maintain high operational standards
Required Qualifications
- BSc in Biomedical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing laboratory, nursing, surgical, and other medical equipment
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and regulatory standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in medical equipment maintenance
